We have used landscape concepts to add a retaining wall, a flagstone walkway and sprinkler system. We love the design and work that has been done. The staff are extremely friendly and qualified. In the fall of 2020, we hired Dale Sykes and his team at Landscape Concepts of Fairfax to redo the landscaping along the front of our house -- they did a terrific job! We began an iterative process with Dale, where he provided his suggestions and input, presenting us with clear design drawings and bid documents that helped our decision-making process. He took time to meet with us at his stone supplier in Manassas to show us the options for paving stone, dry-stack stone, and edging stone; it was only there on-site that we chose our colors and materials, so having Dale with us at that time was so important. Dale also made suggestions regarding plantings and arrangements that met our approval.

Planning is one thing, execution is another -- and Dale’s team did an outstanding job making our front steps and walkway look wonderful. All in all, we had nothing but a positive experience with Dale and the Landscape Concepts team. One more point: we’ve waited until spring 2021to comment here because we wanted to see how the new landscaping survived the winter cold and freeze/thaw cycles. Well, everything is just tine -- flourishing plants, and rock-solid construction that looks great. So we are very pleased with our new landscaping, and can whole-heartedly suggest Landscape Concepts of Fairfax for your next project.

I was referred to Dale and his team by my neighbor who has worked with him for many years to create their hardscape garden oasis. I hired them to build a flagstone patio, reface walls, build new walkways and fix major drainage problems. I could not be more pleased with the design and quality of the workmanship. His crew is amazing and all are a joy to work with. I have text so many compliments on his work and highly recommend. We have worked with Landscape Concepts of Fairfax, Inc. for nearly 20 years. The scope of work started with installation of plants, trees and a stone patio. We then took advantage of their year-round landscape maintenance program, including mowing, pruning, weed control, fertilization, spring/fall cleanup, etc.

Over time they have installed additional beautiful hardscaping, walkways, lighting, drainage systems, and water features. When needed, they reworked certain areas, as they are always welcome to our requests. They oversaw vendor installations such as fencing and driveway repair.

We are so grateful to Landscape Concepts of Fairfax for the quality of work they do, the timeliness, and friendliness of the the long-term crew that takes care of our home. We couldn't be happier!

Landscape Concepts of Fairfax (Dale and his team) has done two major jobs at my house in the past year. The first was a new walkway, front stoop and landscaping the whole property. The second was a new flagstone patio in the back of the house. They did and outstanding job. They were easy to work with, gave good creative suggestions and a fair price. They have great experience and are truly masters at their craft. My wife and I were very pleased with the end results. Dale Sykes’s team won our confidence when they installed a marble deck for our in-town pool ands designed a garden around, complete with lightening and watering system. Their annual upkeep and special projects. continue seven years in.

I had a great experience with Landscape Concepts. I had them sod my back yard, and it turned out great. So I had them put in a koi pond for my wife. They worked with us to create a design we liked including the location, shape, rocks, plants and lighting. They took their time and meticulously placed each rock. When we asked for some minor adjustments in the middle of the job, they accommodated the changes with no gripes at all. The finished product looks great, and within a week after the install, we had fish swimming in our new pond. I would definitely recommend Dale and his team!

Dale Sykes and his team are reliable, talented, and fairly priced. We had three companies bid on our large project, and Landscape Concepts is the only one that provided drawings of what we might expect. They also worked with us to revise the plan until it was exactly what we wanted. They started on time and the crew showed up consistently, we never felt as though they were juggling multiple clients/jobs concurrently. They were deliberate and dependable when it came to making sure our fence was closed at the end of every day so the dogs couldn't escape the yard. They provided a drainage solution to our backyard, and just 30-days after the job was complete we have had this unusual amount of rainfall - which to our pleasure, has been well handled with the new French drains and rock swale (dry creek). They also installed an irrigation system, new sod, and shrubbery. Possibly the prettiest part of the job - and what all our neighbors are admiring is the new fieldstone and brick front walk - which is very high quality.

Dale and crew were hired to remove and replace stairs, retaining walls, an asphalt driveway, and completely replace all plantings. Dale and his crew were a delight to work with. There were hiccups along the way as expected in such a large project. When there were mistakes made Dale corrected them and in the long run we ended up with a fabulous yard. The new stone retaining walls, stone staircase, concrete driveway and plantings, and two new stone patios are beautiful and we receive many compliments.

Dale's company is outstanding! Every team member is very polite and professional. Our backyard project they did was outstanding! They built a pool length, 3 level Boulder waterfall, a separate fire and water feature, a deck, put all new pavers down and beautiful trees and floral plants in our front and backyard. Our backyard is now a retreat!!! We got 5 estimates prior to starting the huge project. Theirs was by far the best design and outstanding price! I highly recommend hiring them!

We contracted Landscape Concepts of Fairfax (LCF) to build two rock retaining walls which were to retain a hill behind our home and also to serve as a hardscape feature and a surface for pots. The project consisted of removal of the existing wooden walls, excavating for the new walls, and construction of the walls. The walls were designed by Landscape Concepts based on our requirements and include electrical outlets and accent lighting. The employees of LCF were very hardworking and respectful of our wishes and property. They did excellent work and didn't take shortcuts that we could see. Changes or additions to the plan were incorporated without delay. The LCF foreman made suggestions when necessary and kept us informed of their progress and next steps. The only adverse issue we had was that our project took longer than anticipated primarily due to difficulty in excavating for the new walls. We are very satisfied with our project and can recommend LCF without reservation.

Landscape Concepts did some major grading and stone wall building in our back yard which was very steep and eroding. His crew was very courteous, always here on time and finished in an efficient manor. I would hire this company again without hesitation.

Landscape Concepts designed and executed our back yard landscaping, including brick patio,, stack stone walls, and all new plantings. We have been very happy with the results and receive frequent comments from neighbors about how beautiful our yard looks. Landscape Concepts of Farifax did a great job of helping us design, rejuvenate and enhance our back yard and deck.

They helped design 2 new decks and stone patio area with a fire pit. The quality and workmanship provided was excellent and we've enjoyed the improvements they made for us.

We have used Landscape Concepts continuously since 2012 for landscape services, mowing and routine maintenance and clean up. They are really good at minimizing any disturbance of surrounding plants when they are working. They keep our property looking as good as it can be. Their crews are excellent: thorough, efficient, respectful and responsive. Their clean up after working is always really great. They have planted, transplanted, and removed trees, bushes and other plantings at my exact direction (I'm very hands-on). While the cost to guarantee their plantings is high (60% of the cost of the plant material) it is the industry standard and Dale honors his guarantee with no-cost replacement. They do excellent hard-scaping (stone walls, brick and paver patios, etc). They are usually pretty prompt, but some seasons are pretty busy, so give yourself some lead time if you have a hard deadline. Dale is very knowledgeable, responsive, accessible and easy to coordinate with. I find a lack of continuity with landscape architects on staff, so it is helpful for you to have an idea of what you like or want when it comes to designing a space. I always keep a project plan with detailed notes and make progress updates. Credit card payment is not accepted.

The job went flawlessly from start to finish. Brad Harris met the next day after i requested an appointment. Afterward, he followed up promptly with plans and a reasonable quote. His team started the work on time the following week and it was completed in a day. 6 months later and the sod still looks amazing. I would highly recommend them for landscaping work!

Dale has provided us with landscaping services for the past 6+ years and we have been very satisfied with the quality and timeliness of services provided. He has always been the perfect gentleman and is a very good listener in making sure his customers needs are met. We were so satisfied with the quality of the work that we contracted him to rebuild our deck and substantially redo our backyard. We have received many offers to do our routine landscaping work at lower prices but we like the quality and reliability that Dale and his crew have consistently demonstrated for now many years.

We inquired through their website (which is a wealth of information in terms of styles and photo galleries) and received a response almost immediately from the owner, Dale, who informed us that a landscape architect would contact us shortly. Sure enough, we received a call from Adam not an hour later--impressive, especially since it was a Saturday. Adam arrived at our home later that week to do the initial brainstorming and measurements and was nothing short of professional. He asked several questions to get to the root of how we wanted to use the space, and then took his time with the measurements afterward. Not four days later, we met again for the "presentation" of the design, which very much felt like something right out of HGTV--full color graphics, 3-D renderings, 2-D overview, etc. He did a beautiful job and was really able to get us to see what work Landscape Concepts was able to do for us. That being said, since he did do a lot of work preparing for our meeting and wasn't charging us for the design, we weren't allowed to keep the drawings as a comparison for other plans, which was a bit of a bummer, but one we understood. In the end, it wasn't about their price (Landscape Concepts was one of the lower bids) or the level of professionalism, but rather the overall design as it meshed with the house and us as homeowners. I would recommend Landscape Concepts to anyone looking to do landscaping work in their yard.

Overall the installation went well, and we are very happy with the finished project. After Dale visited our site, the design plans were drawn and sent to us for approval, along with a detailed estimate. Shortly after our approval of the plan, work began, and the stone columns were built. They were crafted to match the walkway and patio that Landscape Concepts had previously installed; in addition to matching the older installations, the column tops were custom cut, not just flat stones, which adds great character to the columns. Dale was available and responsive to any questions we had during the entire process. It definitely is an enhancement to our property.

Exactly what I envisioned. Sat down with Dale to go over what I wanted & why. He came back with initial plan and estimate. Made a few shifts in plants to accomplish what I wanted but emphasized plants yellow & orange where could. River rock in stone hardest to understand until I explained how difficult to keep cleaned out and wanted solid so I could blow out leaves without moving stone. Plants already spreading out rapidly but maintaining compact growth so not overwhelming area. Keeping taller and fuller plants outside fence where also provides more privacy. Work crew did a great job with crew boss keeping everyone moving on schedule. I donated a few plants to a neighbor and crew boss offered to plant those for me. In exchange I gave him some of the plants being pulled that were still in healthy condition. Crew boss & Dale checked property to make sure I was satisfied with the work before they left, returning to place 4 plants they received incorrectly in their order.
